I think this speech, along with his speech at Notre Dame, are perfect examples of why America elected him. Whether you agree or not, he makes a cogent argument for his position and speaks in adult language. He actually speaks in paragraphs with complex thought... again, hate him or love him, you have to appreciate that.

Excerpt of speech:
... the recent debate has been obscured by two opposite and absolutist ends. On one side of the spectrum, there are those who make little allowance for the unique challenges posed by terrorism, and who would almost never put national security over transparency. On the other end of the spectrum, there are those who embrace a view that can be summarized in two words: "anything goes." Their arguments suggest that the ends of fighting terrorism can be used to justify any means, and that the President should have blanket authority to do whatever he wants – provided that it is a President with whom they agree.
Both sides may be sincere in their views, but neither side is right. The American people are not absolutist, and they don't elect us to impose a rigid ideology on our problems. They know that we need not sacrifice our security for our values, nor sacrifice our values for our security, so long as we approach difficult questions with honesty, and care, and a dose of common sense. That, after all, is the unique genius of America. That is the challenge laid down by our Constitution. That has been the source of our strength through the ages. That is what makes the United States of America different as a nation.

Great our President can speak in complete sentences without saying "Strategery" or Nu clear". We certainly are making progress in electing our leaders.
you are right...he doesn't say those words...but he says a lot of and and ands......and uh's....and um's. he just has his own little way of stumbling over his words.

Then he is a Moron who wants to be retired in 4 years. lol
lol... possibly he will... if the economy is still in the crapper and banks are not lending and Taliban takes over Afghanistan and a terrorist released in the US blows up the Sears Tower... yeah, he'll be toast.

He should know better, there are too many factors and outside influences to use utopian like rhetoric.
While it is brave to come out and talk like that it is usually political suicide. We'll see.
Chaney was right on target, Obama is speeding us towards disaster. He has no clue what he is doing.
He did what he always does, spent his time blaming someone else, rather than solving problems...
He reads well, what someone told him to say, but there was no substance.
As far as stating clearly what he want s do, he has no idea how he plans to do it. He has lots of unrealist dreams, which he can never make happen...
