So, given the fact that a huge portion of Obama's national constituency is in California (55 electoral votes) who seriously believes that this administration will let the state go bankrupt? Not me!

Provided that this does actually happen, what would you all think about it? How do the many contributors of this forum feel about a potential federal bailout of the golden state?

This would be a very tough pill for Americans to swallow.

Confronting a California bailout | Pascal Zachary | World news | guardian.co.uk

I would love to see my former home state, New Jersey, go begging for a bailout one day.
NewJersey is 20Xs more corrupt then Ca.

You're welcome- I normally disagree with their economic outlook but they have been a voice of reason when discussing the amount of taxpayer dollars the US is pissing away.

Obama should be impeached for political corruption if he bails out California.

I should think a Federal "bailout" of an entire state would be difficult to get approved. It'd set a precedent...and then you could count the days (if not the hours) until the other 49 make cases for their bailouts, as well.

This state could not raise taxes on the backs of its citizens, so Schwarzenegger will attempt to get financial help from the federal govt.

This state needs to cut the fat plain and simple. We wouldn't be in this dire situation if the laws of the nation had been enforced.

Much of the spending is related to Education, Medicare, Law Enforcement, and Health and Safety. Where is the fat in these valuable services?
