Administration officials say the state can do more to solve the budget crisis on its own, they don't have the authority to help -- and if they did, it would set a dangerous precedent.

Reporting from Washington -- California needs to solve its financial crisis by itself and should not expect an emergency bailout from the White House, an array of Obama administration officials said Thursday, making clear they had no appetite to step in and provide financial assistance or loan guarantees.
"Look, we're going to examine what we can do. What we need to do, however, is to treat states fairly and that means uniformly," David Axelrod, senior advisor to the president, said in an interview. "Whatever we do for one state, there will be other states who also will want to do that. And there's a limit to what the government can do."
If they did, you'd see NJ insisting on a bailout and our politicians are experts at pissing away tax dollars to corrupt cities and public worker's unions.
To "bail out" California would reward bad behavior. California needs to learn a simple lesson. Spend less, tax less, and maybe, just maybe, you will keep the people who produce and contribute to the state instead of those requiring social services. Spend, Spend, Spend is a bad way to run a state government. EVERY state would pay the price for a California bail out through higher taxes and they would fail to learn a lesson. After California, then it would be New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Michigan....what do all of these states have in common...they are heavy tax, democratic run states, who have so finely defined for us how NOT to run a local government. I don't believe the Messiah will stand by this edict of not bailing out California but I'm hoping when the time comes, the Congress will vote down any bail out after receiving pressure from constituents who are tired of government rewarding bad behavior.

And I'd say that George Bush finely defined for us how NOT to run a federal government. Spend, spend, spend!

As a Republican Bush disappointed me with some of his spending policies. I was also against his stance on illegal immigration. That being said, I would still take him over the Messiah........

That's okay. And I'll take the Messiah over the Shrub.
