In the past, the car manufacturers offered special employee pricing deals that lowered the cost of the vehicle. Now that taxpayers own the majority of GM, will bringing a copy of your 1040 form (to show that you paid federal income taxes that only 50% of the population does) to a GM dealer give you any special deals?
C'mon CEO Obama, how about 10% off the sticker price?

No GM dealer could ever do that and remain in business. The markup on new automobiles is not that high.
Ok, but how about something? $500 off, free oil changes for a year, free floor mats,ANYTHING?
Wouldn't it be nice to see something tangible given as a gesture of thanks to the taxpayer rather than have to wait years for a possible payback of the bailout money if the company can be returned to profitability?
Handled right, this could be a good PR move by the administration.

There actually was a proposal to give people a $3,000 credit (i.e. welfare handout) to buy a new car, it went no where because Obama wanted to buy his car company..
