Below is part of an article written on March 6, 2009 by Mark Knoller, White House Correspondent for CBS News.

The full article is available at this link:

The Truth About Presidents And Teleprompters | Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Quote:
There’s one reason above all others that President Obama uses a teleprompter in delivering most of his speeches: he’s good at it.

Ronald Reagan was the same way. He was more at ease in reading his speech off the dual screens of a teleprompter than looking up and down at a speech text on his lectern
[mod edit:copyright]
With all the nonsense written about Obama's use of teleprompters, maybe this article might clear things up a bit.

I think it makes more sense to have an actual White House correspondent's viewpoint, rather than the utter nonsense typically posted by the Obama haters in this forum.

It seems like MY THREAD is striking a nerve a bit ???

And the responses you've received? More nonsense. Looks like the G.W. Bush library will have plenty of large index cards, with his speeches written with bright crayons.

Fuuny because they were developed for professional news presenters;not politicans who seldom are the best speakers. I can remmeber when the news presenters basically read from paper in front of them and eye contrct was much less. Many more mistakes were made and the teleprompter was a great improvement. Most senate hearings show how bad most politians are as speakers. You see the papers they read off from prepared by aides and their aides sending them notes on things they missed in questioning. Great aides often come from having seniority makes a politcian look much better than he or she is.Many would be lost without them.Reagan and clinton made most of the other modern presidents look lame in comparison.
