Ah, politics at its finest.......spin/distort/spin. No wonder people feel politicians are the scum of the earth.
Calm down with the accusations, man. I'm an independent, not a democrat. I am assigned to the office as part of a program for high school seniors. Granted, I like my placement, but my ending up there had nothing to do with my political affiliation. I use the term "turncoats" because that is the term I've generally heard used to refer to them. That, or "defectors" and (less commonly) traitors/quislings.
And yes I do think that those guys are despicable. There are many such characters in both the Senate and the Assembly, regardless of party. Parker was just the tip of the iceberg-only about a tenth of the crap he got up to was ever reported.

Parker was arrested several times and engaged in a host of questionable activities, and still somehow managed to gain re-election. If he could pull that off, I don't think Espada is without hope.

Did his oponents William Sullivan or Richard Soto live within the district?
Not sure, I'll have to ask around and find out.

Something had to be done. Patterson is a trainwreck who needs to be stopped. The entire nation should take a lesson from this: a candidate's running mate is just as important as the candidate.

I wonder what would have been if Golisano had won?
I'll agree, I've been irked by a few of Patterson's decisions myself. He actually lives right in my town(Guilderland). I believe he blocked pay raises for state workers in addition to promising to lay off thousands of them. There are tons of stateworkers around here, including my parents, and given their predominance within the local economy I can't see how that would aid in stimulating the area financially.
I can't see him getting elected.

My apologies to you, I thought you were older and more involved in the party. Its good to see that you are able to see past party lines. You sound intelligent and moral......2 traits that make politics seem to be the wrong choice for you!

After seeing all the BS with the politics up in Albany, maybe you'll now have an incentive to become a prosecutor

That's the only sensible way to be. I quote Colin Powell frequently due to his reference to the "sensible center". It applies quite accurately to me. I was a stated Republican earlier in my life, and a democrat before that(when I was too young to know anything about politics). Experience has put me in the center now, which is the right place to be IMO. It is the only way to accurately and objectively come to conclusions.

And yeah, forget politics. I've already decided that I will avoid that field of work. When they said the legislature was dysfunctional, they weren't kidding. There are some great people here, honestly. They work hard, they're honest, they actually(GASP!) believe in the laws they want to put forth and have serious conviction to make it happen without drama, politicking and other unnecessary BS. I work with them, they are honest to God good people.

I just fear that they may be outnumbered here. For every one of my Senator there are two Kevin Parkers and an Espada hanging around.

Looks more like a plain old shake down than an ideological shift.

Republicans Seize Control of NY State Senate; 2 Dems defected

I think the two dems "defecated" rather than "defected"....I hope the folks that voted for them have a good memory next election.

I will not vote for a RINO!
Me either. We need REAL conservatives and not neocons or RINOs.

What a disappointment. I thought the thread title said "2 Democrats defacated." I thought they were taking it awfully personally.
