I wonder who is footing the bill for this one? He is flying in Alan Wong to prepare food for 2,500. They will have hula dancers, knife throwers, etc. Occasion? Who knows? I'd say it is because he wants to pamper all the Congress so they will sign onto his healthcare and his immigration programs.
I really, really find it interesting that he is pushing his whole "Hawaiian" thing when he only lived there on and off for 10 yrs. He is 47 so that means he lived elsewhere for 37 yrs.
I'm betting he will be calling Hawaii his home when it comes to vacation time. That way we can foot the bill for those trips.

Damn! You figured it out. There's a giant conspiracy to Hawiian-ize Americans. Has been ever since it was made into a state but only us liberals were supposed to know about. You're a good one.
It does beg the question: If he were a private citizen, would it be 2,500 people or 25? The difference is his wallet versus the United States Treasury.
Could the Congressional Picnic not be sacrificed given the current economic climate? Its this kind of sh*t that makes American's hate their government. They're doing the hula while Jimmy and Pam are eating Ramen Noodles.
it's usually an ANNUAL BBQ. He just wants a Luau. I can't stand the guy's politics, but this is business as usually for the White House. I just wonder if Congress can even have a good time together at this point. Seems they want to kill each other over everything.

If he was a private citizen, he would not be hosting the Annual Congressional Picnic
