This is typical of the democrat congress. Did they even read the bill?

'Cash for Clunkers' won't help most car buyers - Jun. 25, 2009

Quote:
As it's written, the law will benefit few car shoppers and those who might actually benefit from it probably shouldn't be buying a new car to begin with.

Here's why it won't do most people much good: The government refund vouchers for $3,500 or $4,500 are in replacement of -- not in addition to -- the ordinary trade-in value of the vehicle, which in many instances will be worth more than the voucher.

Holy *&^*! I agree with the OP on something. Cash-for-clunkers is ridiculous.

Sorry, but the voucher program is getting one Jeep Grand Cherokee originally scheduled for the junk yard out of my drive way and a new Mini into it! And I can guarantee that my air polluting, gas guzzling heap of junk isn't worth anywhere near $4,500 as a trade in.

I won, I won, I won!!! (in response to previous post regarding Mini vs Honda Civic)

I hate the whole anti-clunker crowd.

I left my 1940 Chevrolet Deluxe legally parked in front of my house in Seattle while on a 2-week vacation. The car was in perfect condition with only 35,000 miles on it. It had mohair seats.

The city of Seattle towed it off and cubed it by the time I returned from vacation - because it was OLD.

I am still furious about it.

Shame on you, I give you time to reflect so that you can consider either editing or deleting your normally non-impulsive and well considered posts to spare you the ignominy of being seen agreeing with the OP.

Did they reimburse you?

Perchance was it without proper registration and tags?

Either way, I am sorry for your loss.

No. The city had come up with some rule defining junk that SOMEHOW fit the description of my car.

There wasn't even any rust.

This is just one of the reasons why I hate socialist do-gooders.

I feel shame about this, ovcatto, so that is some consolation for me.

It may be consolation but it does nothing for your public humiliation.
