Without seeing the results Im sure its going to be a Reagan vs Clinton battle.

I don't think either (or any) were "best". They either did their job or they didn't. Many listed didn't.

Now someone could be your favorite president, but I don't think any can be 'best'.

It's a tie between Nixon and Clinton.

As much as people love to hate Clinton, he was the best president we had in the past 40 years. I don't care about his personal life, that's something between him and his wife! He helped us boom and we enjoyed the longest peace and economic expansion time in US history! He reformed welfare and concentrated on US, as oppose to starting wars like someone on the list that I won't even honor to name.....

All of the tax cuts initially part of ERTA were reversed prior to 1984. From that point on, there were no tax breaks, only tax increases.

If Reagan receives credit for causing the current recession, then his policies must also be responsible for the boom in the 90s, correct?

No, he was terrible. He rode on the long term effects of what previous presidents Reagan and Bush I did. Towards the end of his presidency the economy began sliding badly. Peace? Far from it, he got us involved in conflicts we should have stayed out of...

I think that Clinton's presidency wouldn't be so well-regarded if he didn't have a Republican congress that provided checks and balances.

Let's not forget how Clinton ignored threats from Osama Bin Laden, and failed to retaliate for the bombing of the USS Cole because he was too busy keeping his pants up and asking what the definition of "is" is.
