I wonder how those stats match up with Charlotte and the state of North Carolina. We used to have a surplus in tax money--I remember those days. It is time to insist that these people get out of our country and shoot anyone who tries to come back in. The wrong people are in prison. It should not be the federal employees in prison, it should be the druggies and gangs.
Well, that and the fact that it's virtually bankrupt, due to the facts laid out by that notorious right wing propaganda rag the LA Times.
No, the difference is that nobody will notice if a state like AZ went bankrupt, but CA is a big deal (given that it stood at #8 in the world, all by itself as an economy).
But, I thought this thread was about "states" not just a state, but using one as a model. Was curious if the same model applied to others, like Arizona. Apparently, it isn't what you want to talk about. But then, we haven't debated anything in a long time, and this would be a good reason why I ignore your posts.
You can't deny that illegal immigration is a problem.
Does anyone really think it's a good thing?
I won't, as illegal immigration needs to be handled. At the same time, however, we should avoid pinning it as the biggest reason of all (or worse, the only reason) lest we're fine ignoring what could be bigger problem areas that are the real reasons behind this issue of states going broke.

Yes, those who own and operate Tyson Foods think it's a good thing. I'm certain many others do as well.
Would Tyson and other food packers feel it was a good deal if they were fined the $10,000 per head that present law calls for? I think they may get the point if we did that.
I don't know about all states but I can promise all of you that I know why my state is in such economic straits. Our legislature, just as all the rest, has allowed things to get worse and worse from not having the guts to raise taxes so they can pay for the programs they approve. They have come to depend on the federal government for too much money that is now not available and all of a sudden we are all in so much trouble.
If they want to be good guys so they can be re-elected they need to realize that they need more money to pay for the things they try to buy votes with.

Thats the crazy thing. I consistently make new laws to fix problems that we already have laws for, we just don't enforce them!
