The French have a complete nuclear cycle. They reprocess their spent fuel and recover the usible uranium and plutonium. They then put the remaining nuclear waste in glass blocks in lead caskets and bury it in caverns in central France.

Our professor of computer science is uniquely qualifed to comment on the complexity of trying to model complex non-linear processes on a digital computer. He is probably aware of sensitivity to inital conditions (ie. the butterfly effect) and what is known as GIGO (garbage in garbage out). This why in half a century of advances in data processing we still can't forcast the weather only 48 hours in advance.

it is rather ignorant to view a pattern from a few temperatures when most ages last several thousands of years... Probably the more significant issue would be the melting of the Arctic ice cap... oh but thats just a left wing ploy to get funding for tree huggers... right? (sarcasm) The real;ity is that ice is receeding on both poles by dramatic levels.

Weather =/= climate.

Climate is a trend.

The trend discussed in global warming is only a few degrees over decades, not a huge temperature swing.

But, if you want to focus on local temperatures, the Pacific Northwest is expecting record highs tomorrow. 105.

If you want to look at trends, you'll see that winters in the Pacific Northwest have been drier and warmer for more than 10 years, and summers hotter and drier.

But scientists know that even 1 degree increase over the globe could be catastrophic.

We have increased 2/3 of a degree so far.

There's still quite a bit of debate about how much influence humans are having.

Few legitimate scientists fall in the "no influence" category, but many fall across the spectrum ranging from a little to all of it. It's a healthy debate to have.

Of course the first thing the author says is

The article was not meant to be a commentary on Climate Change or Global Warming (which is why I uttered neither phrase), though I understand why some thought that it was, given the link source Cold OR warm outbreaks, by themselves, are not signs of Climate Change
