........and gets himself shot(8 times) and killed.

Former world champion boxer Vernon Forrest killed in Atlanta shooting - ESPN

"WSB Radio in Atlanta first reported the shooting, citing a police spokesman. Forrest, who was 38, lived in Atlanta and was an Augusta, Ga., native. He was shot seven or eight times as he chased at least two men who had tried to steal his Jaguar as he put air in his tires at an Atlanta gas station, Lt. Keith Meadows said, according to the radio station.

But Forrest had a gun and confronted the men, police said.

"The victim and suspect became involved in a brief foot chase," Meadows said. "At some point, gunfire was exchanged between the two of them. The victim was shot at least once in the head."

Here's another story where a citizen having a gun turned out just great..Not. This is what happens when you combine adrenaline, ego and a gun. Take the victims gun out of the situation and what might you have, a millionaire making a car insurance claim with a bruised ego. Put the gun in and you have a guy playing police and chasing after criminals who decide to kill him. I've always said a gun in your hand doesn't stop a bullet from entering you dome.

No this is actually a story about an idiot. An idiot that does not represent the vast majority od responsible gun owners.
You can find comparable stories about people with knives.
People who rather than call an ambulance instead tried to drive themselves to the hospital.
By your logic we should ban anything and everything because of the occasional fool.

No, this is just another story that illustrates that everybody does not merit carrying a gun in public or having them in there homes. Where are these comparable knife stories? Do you really think he would've chased these guys with a knife?

And by extension of that logic, the thread should be banned.

Might be a record for the op starting and closing a thread in the same post.......
