"Those in the administration" were Tim Geithner. He answered George Stephanopoulos three times, honestly. But you all like to believe that Tim lies, right?

I can't speak for whoever "you all" is, but what did I say about Geithner lying?

Hiding income isn't something that can be done for the average corporate worker.

I've known people who honestly believe there are ALL KINDS OF WAYS to legally "cheat" the system (remember the "home office" deduction?)...but when they themselves look into it they find that there really is no place to hide for the average tax payer.

That's how tax advisors and accountants and financial planners make their livings. And $250K+ earners are the top 5% of earners in the US, theyre not "the average tax payer."

I'll take a page from the Bill Clinton playbook: What's the definition of "is"?

Trivial? Nope, not at all. There is a huge difference between: "....the President's clear COMMITMENT IS NOT to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year,'' and "the President WILL NOT raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year."

Yes indeed, there is a difference.

He's committed to it. They know they're out in 2010 and -12 if they cant stick to it. Believe me, they'll stick to it.

I'm not a fan of Geithner, but I didn't say he lied and I'm not sure how my opinion on him is relevant to the topic. The OP was saying that Obama has been clear. I was saying that the responses over the weekend were consistent with what he said in the press conference and not with some of is other statements. I was saying that Obama has not been particularly clear. I said nothing about Geithner lying - or at all.

I know, but since Geithner was the only one who spoke this weekend, and you were giving credence to what "those in the administration" said this weekend, I said I was pleased that you give credence to Geithner. Thazz all.
