I've asked this before, and will try again:
Which countries DO NOT have some form of socialized medicine/national health care?
If our method is so good, why can't I find anyone with a similar system?

If our system is so "bad", then why do world leaders and anyone with serious ailments come to the United States first instead of England, Canada, or France? Judging a medical system is similar to judging a nation: compare the number wanting in to the number wanting out.

And by that standard we could list a number of places that do have socialized medicine and we wouldn't want to live: Russia, Cuba, Venezuela.

The other fact is that in the US we do have socialized medicine. Medicare, medicaid, the VA. Another small point is in much of Europe, private health care insurance is a commodity and a major perk in the highest paying jobs. So they do not have a fully socialized system either.

So if you do get a list of countries that do and don't have socialized medicine, the U.S. would be on the list of countries that do. It's primarily 3rd world countries that have no form of socialized medicine, and Communist countries that have the most far-reaching forms of socialized medicine. Most of the developed countries where you would want to live have a system in the middle, including the U.S., U.K. Germany, France, etc.

And do ALL Americans get the same treatment was world leaders who come here?? Hell no! It just stands that, in a country with 300 million people, there is a large enough elite class to support high end medicine. It is the same reason that the rich come here to shop and dine. They do not have enough of the elite in their own countries to support fancy medicine and fancy stores like we do.
The better question is why people in this country have to sneak over to Canada to afford their prescription drugs and why they are about 1/2 what they cost over here.

Your question about Canadian drugs is quite easy,...THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT CONTROLS THE COST OF DRUGS IN CANADA. When costs are controlled by the government, there is not a true market situation.

Thought everyone knew that..........

Prescription drug coverage is a different question than universal coverage. From every description of universal healthcare I've seen, none of it includes prescription price controls. In fact, we could and should put price controls on prescriptions with or without universal healthcare and pay rates that aren't double or triple to what other countries pay. The drug companies claim that the U.S. must fund research, and then turn around and spend 10 times as much on advertising. So yes, capping prescription drug prices to say ..... within 10% of prices in other countries ... or another set method, seems like a very reasonable solution regardless of where you stand on healthcare reform. It remains a free market, but doesn't allow price gouging on American citizens.

Does the term " money talks" mean anything to you?
These people come to America for treatement because they know that with money they can get treatment and a hospital bed ahead of a American Citizen. The current health system in America is a loud message to anyone who has money to come here for your treatment as we value you much more than hard working poorer Americans.
Do you see a line forming of everyday people from uhc countries at our borders ..NO. You just get the token Canadian that is now pounced on by the media as a exmple of how bad Canada's health system is.
Believe me we aren't fighting back a surge of people coming here for healthcare. If millions of uninsured Americans could afford to go to other countries for healthcare they would go in a instant
