The Pentagon is now studying how climate change will affect the U.S. Military. Officials have concluded that over the next 20 to 30 years vulnerable countries will face food and water shortages, flooding and migration that could warrant humanitarian or military help from the U.S. Although much of the debate has been focused on eliminating greenhouse gases, policymakers are now looking at climate change in a new light and as a real threat to our national security. Retired General Anthony Zinni was a guest on Real Time last night. General Zinni and several other retired generals were instrumental in advising the Pentagon on the effects of climate change.
