Since no one is forcing anyone to do so, your fear is misplaced. If you don't want to report your neighbor, then don't. Simple.

My neighbor is free to do anything he wants. So is his wife. So are his children. They're a friendly bunch. On my other side is a nasty old man. Before the election, he told me, "I'm not voting for no damn n*gger!" Sweet guy, huh? Still, he is free to do whatever he wants as well. Indeed, they all were free to report me to whomever they wanted long before the WH website. I don't care. I'm doing nothing wrong. They can report away...to their hearts' desires. Are you worried? I'm not.

Do you have any idea how many times I had people who were big Bush/Cheney fans tell me that "If you're not doing anything wrong than why would you care?" when I objected to Bush/Cheney spying on private citizens?

Why is it that people never seem to learn that unless freedom applies to all then it isn't safe for any of us? I can disagree with what a person says with all my heart but still believe that they have a right to say it. Do you not understand that if you establish it as custom for Americans to tell the government what is said to disagree with the government then it will become a custom that will someday come back and bite you? Today there may be a government with which you agree. 8 years from now there may be one with which you disagree. Do you want to be afraid to voice your opposition?

If principals don't convince you that you should respect the right to free speech of others, then how about this. The motive for this "tell us what they say" is said to be so they can rebut the lies. Do you honestly...honestly now....believe that they don't already KNOW what is being said and the lies that are being told. For heaven's sake they are all over the tv, all over the internet, all over the radio. How could they NOT know WHAT is being said. So if they don't want to know WHO is saying them then what is the purpose of this "tell big brother?"

I'm not paranoid, so no, I don't see this the way you do.

Here's my question for you. What would be the secret motive only you seem to see? You ask me, "what is the purpose of this "tell big brother?" Now I'm asking you. What is the purpose? Are Obama's minions going to whisk opponents off to the secret internment camps? Tell me. What does Obama stand to gain by having lies reported if that isn't the true motivation?
