Corporate socialism and Crony Capitalism suppress innovation because maintaining the status quo is vital to the privilege structure they have created. Socialism that frees creative people to be creative by reducing the amount of time and effort needed to stay alive enhances the level of innovation.

The number of garage based High Tech start ups are an example. After all who owned the garage? Usually the entrepreneur’s dad. That is family level socialism.

In a "Socialist" Country it is realised the everyone cannot have everything. It is also realised that for some there are problems and we must try to have a safety net to help our fellow Citizens who are sick or have fallen on hard times.
In the UK, for example, Socialism and Capitalism run hand in hand. We have the City of London financial centre which is the hub of European finance and a great welfare system that takes care of our Citizens.
The only people who are afraid of "Socialism" or say it is bad are the ones with no experience of such a system and their fears are from the media or their imaginations of what "Socialism" really is.
They are making judgements on something they know absolutely nothing about.

It doesn't work*. It requires an authoritarian government and poverty of the masses. Two hundred and fifty million of the proletariat under it's care have died unnecessarily from starvation and over work in slave labor camps. Also from lousy medical care. What in it's history gives anyone the idea that it will work here?
Our extremist environmentalists may not consider this a bad thing but go to google earth and have a night time look at the border of the Korea's.

*A handful of small rich countries with economies
vastly different than ours and small populations
have managed for a short while to make this 'work'.
But even they are now feeling the pain.

For those who love socialism, there are many fine socialist countries to move to where you might be happy, we don't want or need that here, so stop trying to convince us that giving up our freedom is a good thing, you are failing miserably.

I was watching television the other day, and Obama made a statement that I really agreed with, he said something in the lines of taxing the super rich (over $250,000 a year) more, to make so everyone, such as myself, can have health insurance. I can not see why anyone would not agree with this? I really hate the cash for clunkers program he did, but this has restored my faith in him. To make a long story short, how is socialism going to negatively affect someone poor like me? I did a little research, and found that countries that are run a socialistic government have no homeless people. Can we say the same?

Maybe the better question is "Why is socialism good??

Why are you poor? Couldn't get into a college or trade school?

Why is it hard to disagree with that?? WHY?? Everyone is not "equal"! Some people are exceptional! They should be rewarded for being exceptional.

And guess what? When some of them get rewarded, they help some of those that are having a hard time. Most scholarship funds are supported by those evil exceptional people. It's funny how that works.

Competition is the reason you have that laptop. That's why they keep getting better. There would be no "drive" to make a better product if there was no reward at the end.
