Didn't patriotism used to be a good thing in this country?

I think that stuff is stupid and wouldn't buy any of it because I voted for Bob Barr, but why shouldn't a privately owned company be allowed to express patriotism?
I'm guessing if they were selling American flag lapel pins that would be fine...

He's the President of the United States. Why in the world would you have a problem with that???

Probably not...and by the way, I agree with you...which is one reason I don't watch NBC News.

Are you talking about the shop in NYC?

If so, they sold Bush when he was President.

All the souvenir shops in NYC sell that type of stuff...

I don't see how selling presidential memorabilia is biased. Obama is the president of everyone, not just the people that voted for him.

It isn't necessarily fair to ask if they had equal stock for GWB, because in all likelihood it has nothing to do with political bias, and everything to do with what sells. (Frankly, people trying to find a bias where there isn't one is one of the major things that is wrong with this country.) The reality is that Obama is very meaningful to some people in a way that Bush wasn't. Obama is the first black president. That is exciting to many people (read: many people = potential customers). The upteenth weathly white president just doesn't have the same selling power. Not that everyone who buys Obama stuff or supports Obama does so because he is black. Obama is easily marketable in many ways.

Beyond that, the idea that NBC is selling Obama merchanise because of a political bias is ludicrous because Jeffry Zucker, NBC's CEO makes very large political contributions to . . . the Republican party. (Actually virtually all of our mainstream media is owned by very political Republicans, but the myth of the liberal media is so engrained in our society that people simply refuse to see that a media owned by Republicans simply cannot have a liberal bias- despite the fact that it is utterly illogical.)

They also refuse to air a commercial critical of Dear Leader.

ABC, NBC Won't Air Ad Critical of Obama's Health Care Plan - Political News - FOXNews.com (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/27/abc-nbc-refuse-air-advertisement-critical-obamas-health-care-plan/ - broken link)

Oh for og's sake, they sell all the presidents' merchandise during their presidencies. This is probably the most retarded thing I've heard yet.

Umm,

You do know that NBC, and MSNBC were authors of amicus curae briefs in support of Fox in Akre v Fox News?

How about the fact that they consistently have twice as many GOPPERS as Dems on to "discuss" issues?
