Melissa Lafsky at HuffingtonPost.com is “asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted's death, and what she'd have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded.
Who knows -- maybe she'd feel it was worth it.”

It's a fact that all humans are flawed, we will all make mistakes in life. However, I strongly believe in forgiveness and redemption, and I am not going to continually beat someone up over one unintentional mistake that happened 40 years ago.

In my opinion, and again this my opinion, so I am well aware that not everyone agrees nor do I care, Kennedy did many wonderful things in life that should not be dismissed due to this one event. I generally believe that human nature is good, so I like to reflect on the positive things that most people do. I strongly believe that Kennedy's positives outweigh the negatives.
Your entire post says it. It's what you believe. That much is obvious.

I agree. Kennedy chose death for an innocent young woman while he fought for his life near the end. To name this health care bill (that will not pass) after Kennedy he coward would be spitting in the face of Mary Joe' parents.

The Democrats are just using Kennedy to try and garner support for this socialist bill. I guess like the crisis the Demoncrats have decided to never lt a good dead man go to waste.

You can choose to harp on an event that happened 40 years ago, or you can be decent and have a little respect for a man whose funeral is taking place as I write this. Have a little compassion.
Great Post.
I found the opening post hilarious. Respect is shown for people who have earned it. Mary J K all I know about her is she died in a car accident involving Ted Kennedy. Sorry she and many others have died in car accidents, does not mean ones need to show respect or disrespect.
Just another hate Ted Kennedy and the Democrats thread.

The mistake Kennedy made was to drink and drive. Because of that mistake Mary Jo died. Had he stopped drinking the rest of his life than he would have shown the world he had learned and changed his ways. He did not learn and how can one can not redeem one self while he chooses to take the same course that got Mary Jo killed. He never really changed the root problem

Not to mention had he ever actually admitted the fact that he was responsible for Mary Jo's death might have meant something. But no instead he denied his accountability in the affair beginning to end. Thats why his good deeds don't add up to this 1 very bad deed. Not to mention all the scams he pulled.

Strange but I never hear the wingnuts bring this up...but Mary Jo Kopechne is always on the tips of their hate filled tongues.

Michael Dutton Douglas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
She ran a stoplight and hit someone else who hit a stoplight.

As opposed to Kennedy who left the scene of the accident, did not attempt to get help, and used his and his family's influence in the state to halt all investigations into the incident.
