Public plan, mandates among Obama’s latest vision for health reform

Among the details of the president’s plan were making it illegal for any private insurer to exclude a person based on a pre-existing condition or drop a policyholder or “water it down” the moment someone gets sick and needs insurance the most.

The lobbyists are going to be on the backs of the Republican obstructionsists as we speak. This has to be raising blood pressure levels. Obama played his cards right. He drew the line in the sand with this mandate.

Indeed, Obama plays a masterful game.

The lobbyists are going to do their best imitation of Helicopter Ben, only instead of dumping money on banks and the economy, the lobbyists will fly over Congress and shovel money out the door as they hover above GOP offices.

How much does an outburst on national tv cost....

Quote:
Whether because of his outspokenness or in spite of it, Wilson is a major recipient of contributions from the health care industry.
In fact, over his entire congressional career, health professionals represent Wilson’s top industry contributors, donating a total of $244,196 to his campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics OpenSecrets.org database. He received another $86,150 from pharmaceutical companies, $73,050 from insurance companies and $68,000 from hospitals and nursing homes.
Among Wilson’s top contributors are the American Hospital Association, a lobby group that represents the interests of hospitals and health networks, and the American Medical Association, which represents physicians.

Perhaps I should rephrase thatt; however, I suppose it is appropriate in both contexts - The lobbyist's paid and so is the Congressman according to the boost in funds his rival is receiving....

Which line in the sand would that be? The only line in the sand that I heard last night was that we need healthcare reform (which was pretty much stating the obivious).

Everything else I heard was basically just a few ideas floating around, a few "we'll call you out's," and otherwise just a castle full of trap doors.

I certainly didn't hear in any "or else's" that would seem to draw a line in the sand. What did I miss?

Dr.'s do not necessarily make good business decisions. AMA is like any other lobbying group. And they are afraid of going up against Obama. Do not want to be seen as obstructionists.

A friend of mine who is in the insurance industrty recently told me that when in training he was told the best way to sell insurance to the masses is to disturb, disturb, disturb. This is exactly what the insurance companies are doing right now to stop us from thinking clearly about our health options.
