Threre are many political topics that I have very strong (and usually unpopular) opinions about. I have signed up on some controversial websites. These sites sometimes have "calls to action" where you can click a link and send a letter to your congressman/sentator or sign a petition for an unpopular point of view.
I would dearly love to participate in these calls to action, but frankly I am a little concerned that doing so would put me on somebody's "list". If you know what I mean.
When the big boys come knocking, I want to be as relatively inconspicuous and anonymous as humanly possible. I don't want to get caught up in any political coups or revolutions that could make me a target.
How many of you feel like I do and would like to particpate more in controversial things, but really fear indentifying yourself as a potential dissenter and "trouble maker" for the powers that be?
I'm just curious how many people are out there who would love to lend their voice to a cause, but fear government retribution for it.
Not me. I'm paying down debt and getting as much off the hamster wheel as I can.
Don't know who to trust and who not to these days as everyone has an agenda.
I don't worry about that kind of stuff. We don't currently have the type of government that could pull anything off.
They pulled off this "globalization" though over the course of 40 years.
People bought into it back in the 70's when mfg started to go offshore.
Globalization will free us was the mantra and we would train for better jobs than manufacturing.
Fast foward to today and all that's really left in the US are "service" or healthcare jobs.

I know what you mean, I remember sending an email to GW telling him in no uncertain terms what I thought of him, not long after that there were black helicopters hovering over my house!

They (gov't/big business) won and we lost.
Well if it take them another 40 years to "get" me then I'm REALLY not worried.
I don't fear any governmental retribution / recriminations whatsoever.
I am very proactive - and participate on a number of "call to action" type sites.
I also regularly communicate with all the members of my Congressional Delegation (at least once a month) on various issues - and was asked by several members of this delegation to participate in a citizens advisory panel to make recommendations regarding proposed changes to the Health Insurance delivery system.

Was "jump into the fire" by Harry Nilsson playing by any chance? Was Scorcese in the wings shouting "action"? Were Pesci and DeNiro around too? Sounds like Goodfellas to me!

How many Congressmen might like to clean up the corruption in their party if they could get by with it.
I am already on the bad guy list since I am a veteran, an old one at that and take very anti-lib stands on forums and other places. The good Napolitano lady had a list that included me in so many ways so I think they will come by soon. I have only one fire arm and it is a 12 gauge with a barrel that is a out 4 1/2 feet long. It holds a pattern very tight for about 50 yards.
