someone here made a post about Gov. Jindal and his executive order against contracts with Acorn. The people were making fun of the decision because Louisiana didn't have a contract with Acorn. In the article below, our local Gannett owned newspaper, it shows that his decision prevented Acorn from being a subcontractor on the state payroll.
La. ACORN contracts stalled | theadvertiser.com | The Advertiser
BATON ROUGE — Gov. Bobby Jindal's ban on state spending involving troubled community activist group ACORN has stopped two possible contracts in the Department of Social Services, the governor's office announced Tuesday.
But two contracts under consideration at DSS included ACORN as subcontractors to the work for a tax assistance program that will be funded with state and federal money, according to Jindal's office.

Unlike Bush and Obama, Gov. Jindal actually has a clue. Hopefully, he will consider running in 2012.

Claimed in the other thread...

According to the state’s Division of Administration, no state agencies have existing contracts with ACORN

From the article...

No existing contracts have been found.

STATUS: TRUE

But two contracts under consideration at DSS included ACORN as subcontractors to the work for a tax assistance program that will be funded with state and federal money, according to Jindal's office. Under the order, ACORN will have to be removed as subcontractors before the work can begin.

Interesting primarily because it illustrates the means by which ACORN receives federal and state money -- they are selected as the prime or sub-contractor in staffing up contracts to carry out work mandated by federal or state law. They achieve this status because they are often deemed to be the best qualified candidates to carry out the work at hand. We'll all be much better off I'm sure by having this work turned over to less well-qualified candidates.

Interesting but less so in that right-wingers feel a need to justify and defend Jindal's transparent political showboating by stooping to citation of two contracts pending (i.e., not yet implemented or perhaps ever to be) in which ACORN was listed as a proposed (i.e., not yet retained) subcontractor. How many degrees from Kevin Bacon is that actually?
