Can anyone effectively explain why they are a republican or democrat, or is this just a lesser of two evils game? Lets be Extremely honest here.

I understand people have their opinions and values but in 2009 do you believe any of the parties truly answer to them?

From a scale of 1 to 10, are you satisfied with your political party? HONEST answers only.

1 being completely unsatisfied. 10 being euphorically thrilled.

Republican and I give them an 8.

I appreciate the efforts of Republicans to stop the massive torrent of socialism, far left agenda and skyrocketing debt and costs that Obama and company want to unleash on the country. They are pushing for way too many gigantic and permanent changes too fast with little thought for the long term consequences of those actions. Time someone stood up to them. The congressional Republicans have been doing a good job of that recently.

I knock them down a point for the many blunders of the previous election cycle.

I knock them down another point for traitors such as Specter and Snow. Also for having an inconsistent platform and caving on some important issues they should have stood firm on.

The same, I am a republican but only slight to the right of the middle. It depends on the issue. I think the republicans are heading in a good direction, but they were not a year ago. What makes me a republican? I believe in a capitalistic society, I do not believe in higher taxes unless it is truely needed and I certainly do not want the government totally running my life or making every decision for me. I believe in working for what I have and getting what I deserve, but I do not believe in we should take care of those who don't want to take care of themselves.

Does this mean I don't think we need welfare or government assistance? Absolutely not. There are those who can not work, or those who have lost their jobs, there are kids without homes or without enough food to eat. yes, we have to do what we can for them.

I also believe in a strong military and total patriotism. I am proud to be an American. No, the country isn't perfect, only God is perfect, but it is better than most other countries and I get furious when I hear people, especially politicians putting us down when they are traveling abroad or making speeches. We should be pround not apologetic.

Nita

How can you appreciate the "efforts of Republicans to stop the massive torrent of socialism, far left agenda and skyrocketing debt and costs that Obama and company want to unleash on the country." when for the previous 8 years Republicans increased the debt and deficit to astronomical levels? I have seen no such efforts from the Republican party.

Republicans : 1 for being such hypocrites for opposing same policies they supported just a year ago

Democrats: 1 for pushing same policy as Republicans.

Democrat -- 0

Ineffectual gutless bunch of ball-less ******* who sold out the people to Big Medicine and quake in fear of the lying right-wing media and the people they dupe. They might as well all be Republicans.

I'm a Democrat. I give them a 5 but I had low expectations.

I'm going to start paying more attention to my local government though.
