Just park your car on the dealership lot and run away.
Based upon the credit scores needed to get a $20 loan these days, not many.

So for every $4,000 the government gave out to new car buyers, how much do you think government (federal and state) collected back in sales taxes, registration fees, etc?

How many auto workers got to keep their jobs?

How many gas guzzlers were removed from the highways?

Yep ... a real waste of tax dollars!

Funny how I haven't seen one post that really was supportive of this Cash-for-Clunkers crap!
Where's ALL those O-supporters telling the rest of us just how great this idea was?
Oh, I forgot......they be out sporting their new cars......now that their houses belong to the bank, perhaps?
But that's OK........ACORN will save their day!
Hope they don't lose that part time job....or someone else will be enjoying their new ride too.
Yeah......thatta be da REPO-man!
ENJOY your new cars while you can, suckas!
ENJOY your job and making your payments on them. Remember......YOU stimulated the economy and helped a lot of American car makers and dealers out when YOU.......cashed in YOUR clunker.

Two different type of Auto workers. We got non-union workers at the transplants that operate in the South. Those factories make quality vehicles profitably. UAW members work at plants in the rust belt. Those needed to be bailed out because UAW members are paid far more than what they are actually worth. But that's no problem because democrats love unions.

True many older vehicles that the poorest American desperately depend on were destroyed. I guess in your world that's a good thing. So now the older vehicles are gone. Do you realize that an entire industry exists to service older vehicles. This industry employs mechanics like me, service advisor's, managers, book keepers and accountants, parts department personnel, porters and cashiers. This industry is serviced by all sorts of vender's to include tool trucks, cleaning services, uniform suppliers, hazardous waste disposal, equipment maintenance, parts suppliers, software suppliers, advertisers, etc.

We borrowed money from the Chinese to subsidize a lot of foreign made vehicles while diminishing our domestic auto repair industry and all those that do business with it. Imagine how much better the present job market would be for all those people who lost their jobs when the new car dealerships were forced closed by Gubment Motors if they were able to find work in other repair facilities because the old vehicles were still around and needing service.
