Better off doing your own prep buying a little extra every week.
Then you at least have a choice of buying stuff you actually eat !

Yes, because a company offers it for sale (with one review) means people are buying it like crazy.

I guess all the American car companies are in popular demand because they are still offering cars for sale.

*IF* it ever came down to food lines, I'd rather not have to wait in them.

In my area, having a weeks supply of staples is never a bad idea in case of a large earthquake.

Water-check
Food-check
Ammo-check
Propane-check

I was referring to the part of the link that refers to the product being in high demand resulting in delay of shipment.

MRE's are selling, too. I actually like the dried green beans They rehydrate well, and taste good. Nothing wrong with buying that food in a co operative way, and splitting/sharing costs. It stretches the food dollar. And we can still buy fresh, and frozen.

Maybe lots of people have taken up backpacking .

But, unless your an astronaut or you have to carry your belongings with you wherever you go (like a survivalist), why would you need a year's worth of freeze dried food? Is it that yummy?

Why not just stock up on canned goods, water, beef jerky, rice, pasta, tuna, lentils/beans, etc. (Which you could use at home during any emergency - snow storm, hurricane, disease outbreak, etc.).

What exactly are the freeze dried food buyers trying to plan for?

Maybe there are a lot of people converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They're supposed to keep a year's supply of food in the pantry.

Maybe there are a lot of people who see this purchase as a good value for their money.

Maybe more people are taking global climate change seriously and are keeping an emergency kit.

Maybe paranoia is rampant in the US, and Costco is reaping the benefit.

Who knows why? And, honestly, who gives a rat's patootie?
