I can't think of any other strong contenders for 2008-2009.
To be honest, much as I can't stand him, former President Clinton certainly would have been a worthy winner. But since no one has any way of knowing for sure who the list of nominees were, he may not even have been in contention. But after what he accomplished in N. Korea this Summer, I hope he's at least nominated for consideration next year.

Well, no, despite your use of quotation marks, I didn't say "who are you to complain" - check again. And keep those whines coming. They're music to my ears.

Whatever your opinion about whether President Obama deserved the Nobel prize or not, you should all be proud that your elected leader was even considered for such an honour and that he has the international admiration and respect that such prize means.

Or would you prefer to be Italian like me and see the so called prime minister (not worth using capital letters) of Italy making news for the following reasons?

Thanks for the quick post on this. I figured he would but have been waiting to hear for sure.

And the right-wing extremists are sure to criticize/demonize whatever charity/charities Nobel Prize Laureate Barack Obama chooses,

Isn't your voice straining from all the shouting by now.

But, donating the money is a good thing. I hear ACORN is looking for new revenue so maybe he can help them out.

Seriously? You're really reaching there.

Get over it already...the two have nothing to do with one another.
Yeah, I'm sure politics and ideology have nothing to do with the decisions over who is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

I'll take Obama's word for it...

That cinches it then! Obama clearly is entitled to the award for his amazing accomplishments during the 11 day period between his inauguration as President on January 20, 2009 and his nomination by the Nobel Committee on February 1, 2009, because you cannot think of a "strong contender."

ROFLMAO! Truly amazing.
