You're quite right, IMHO. Homosexuality is not a modern invention...no doubt there were homosexual hominids, as evidence mounts pointing to a genetic marker. The Greeks knew the fighting value of gay men, and if the Amazons
did exist, no doubt there were lesbian relationships among them. Being a heterosexual is no guarantee of courage, skill or superior strategic ability.

Actually, you need to stop and think about it a little more deeply. The President is in the midst of making the absolute most difficult decision he will likely face during his Presidency - whether to send 40 - 60,000 troops to fight in an unpopular war, or not. If you really think that Obama is stupid enough to introduce a new policy on gays in the military in the midst of trying to make a wartime strategy decision at the risk of further losing support for that war because of gays, you're clearly not capable of thinking beyond the surface. Gay rights are the farthest thing from Obama's mind right now, and rightfully so. You and your ilk need to get your collective heads out of the clouds and come back to reality. War and gays are not even in the same league. Quit being selfish and look at the world picture for once.

A 2006 poll showed that only 26% of Armed Forces members were in favor of gays being allowed to serve openly. Thats not alot, I guess that means the rest are intolerant jerks, right? Are we going to have to segregate military facilities even more now? Two extra sets of restrooms/showers, barracks etc etc.? If your going to allow gay men to shower with straight men, why not just let all the men and women shower together? Why not let all the men in women sleep together? If the Military wants to keep don't ask, don't tell in place, I say we should let them.

I wonder where you got that number. Did you just make it up?

Here's what I've found:
A 2006 Zogby poll found that three-quarters of the military personnel surveyed said they were comfortable around gays and lesbians, while 78% said they would join the military even if gays were allowed to serve openly.

How about if the military believes that women or Jews shouldn't be allowed to serve, would you support that too?

Well, lets just say I see it more as a sexual perversion than a lifestyle. After all, If all men and women were gay and procreation was left to natural means, human existence would be over as we know it. Doesn't seem all that natural to me. I'm entitled to my opinion last time I checked.

Of course you are entitled to an opinion, but just because it's your opinion doesn't mean it's factually accurate. Your gut can't tell you everything about the world. I trust the experts who research and publish studies about human behavior and sexual orientation. Maybe you don't.

I also don't understand the argument of "if all men and women were gay, human existence would be over." Well, that's kind of silly to me, because the vast majority of people are not gay. It's a pointless argument. No one's saying that everyone should be gay. That would be impossible, anyway. We are who we are.

I agree with you that it's not a "lifestyle". I call it sexual orientation. Everybody's got one.

I may be a little pissy tonight, but I made serveral valid reasons why people should be patient and not a single person has bother to address them.

That tells me that there are a bunch of folks here that would rather shout rhetoric than have a reasonable discussion. Good night

No kidding. Next thing you know Negroes will be allowed to play Major League Baseball. What's this country coming to? Allowing equal rights for all it's citizens.
