Soccer mom Melanie Hain, who made national headlines last year by having a loaded, holstered handgun at her 5-year-old daughter's soccer game, has been found shot dead in her home along with her husband, police said Thursday.
We never know what goes on inside another's home. And the truth of the matter is, this has little to nothing to do with her carrying or her permit. It appears as though there were troubles between the adults.

Were there not a gun in the home, the 2 people would probably still be alive and those "innocent children" would still have both parents and not traumatized for the rest of their lives.

Isn't that the norm in deaths in the home from violence (adults who know each other)?

If it was a spousal killing, you hardly need a gun.
Tylenol PM in a drink and a butcher knife will do the trick quite handily.

Not necessarily true, you can not blame this on a gun. There are dozens of other alternatives in a home daily that can be used. But, as it appears there was a lot of trouble in the home between the parents that was so very traumatizing to the children that will also last a lifetime. Either way it is a lose, lose for the kids and none of it is blamed on a gun.
Her husband shot her. They were having difficulties and she was considering having a PFA order put against him. So make jokes about domestic violence, there have been alot of cases exactly like that lately. Her husband was a prison guard and a parole officer. I disagreed with her in your face stance on gun carrying but supported her right to own guns. BTW, I listened to her debate the issue on local radio and she was not trailer trash or a kook, she was only very opinionated and vocal in her right to carry a gun legally. She had a case pending against the county for taking away her gun permit illegally, so we can hope her children will see some financial settlement which they in all likelihood will.
