Well....if the first one was such a rousing success, why would we need another? This confirms what many have known for months now - $1 Trillion already down the toilet - accomplished little if any of it's goals set out by obama.
Indeed .... How much more ? How much more can America withstand ?
Truly "Staggering" .... are the "Savage Blows" leveled against this beloved nation from within and without !
Where is the desperately needed effective "Leadership" that should be coming from the current occupants of the White House ???
And what of the U.S. Treasury ? ..... At the unprecedented rate that "Trillions" are being spent, how much longer until the building is "Padlocked" and out of business ?
If these are the much advertised "Changes" so vehemently promised during the Presidents extremely elaborate campaign ..... We "The American People" are most definitely "In For It" !!!
Think About It ! ..... But Please, don't take very long !
They went about it the wrong way - instead of putting the stimulus into the hands of those who would spend it directly (consumers), they put it in the hands of bureaucrats.
Completely false. Go back and read the bill. $288 billion in tax cuts. $83 billion in benefits to low-income workers and retirees. $87 billion to Medicaid. $25 billion to pick up 65% of COBRA payments for those forced into them. $45 billion in budget support to local school districts. $15 billion in Pell grants. $13 billion for Head Start and IDEA. $9 billion in direct state budget support. Once again, you don't know what you are talking about...

Is there anything that you believe the current administration isn't doing right ?
You defend this administration more than the administration does themselves.
How utterly ignorant. How many paychecks are those $13 in? How many times to biweekly paychecks get sent out? Do you know why the tax cut was disbursed this way? I'll tell you...because when Bushie sent out those lump-sum stimulus checks, bozos used them to add to savings or pay down down debt. Both of those actions serve to undercut the stimulus effects of the stimulus checks. Brilliant!!! So, we had to break the payments up into little tiny pieces so that you wouldn't have much choice but just to spend them as they came, which of course is the whole point. I actually do know 34th-graders who understand this crap and right-wingers don't...what's to be done with these people...
$52 a month is NOT the kind of spending that will spur a recovery in the economy. That kind of money, especially to those who are in dire need, is used for subsistence ONLY.
When I got my stimulus check of $800 dollars a few years back - I bought a saddle, a very nice saddle - that is the kind of spending that will spur the economy.

On the contrary, virtually none of this list creates jobs.
The aid to the states has already been shown to not of had the effect that was intended. They used the money instead to close budget gaps.
Benefits to low-income workers and retirees - does not create jobs.
Medicaid - no jobs.
COBRA - no jobs.
Local school district - probably saved some jobs that might have been cut...or maybe not.
All that in bold? Just what I said - into the hands of bureaucrats. Thank you.
Oh saggy, obama and his "uniquely qualified" team used that chart to show us what the stimulus would prevent - UE rising above 8%. What the stimulus would accomplish, job creation. You just can't get around those basic facts. It is their chart, their report, their numbers, all wrong, wrong, wrong.
There is a saying when you are in a hole stop digging, clearly Obama hasn't heard it.
Judging from your post the left is out of gas all they have is name calling and enemies lists.
By the way Obama assured us unemployment wouldn't rise above 8% if stimulus was passed. How did that work out? I guess he didn't snap his fingers hard enough.
Nobody thought the recession would be as deep as it was.
The CBO thought unemployment would not top 8.3% as of January 2009.
Its time to let go of that talking point.
Nobody had it right.
Surely this is a joke post ? Did the right-wing also make up that chart the President showed to get his stimulus passed ? Or was that all a fake as well ? That chart was done by Obama's team..not some right-wing fairy tale cartoon factory.
I realize you don't have the time or inclination to go out and get a degree in stat econ, so PAY ATTENTION: The original chart is from a projection done in late December 2008 using the most recent data available at that time. The purpose of the projection (which was done by what would become staff at the CEA) was to show the future of unemployment rates both with and without a stimulus plan of roughly the magnitude that had been talked about up to that time. It shows that with a stimulus plan, unemployment would peak earlier and at a lower level than without a stimulus plan. That is its only point and its only conclusion.
Now, over at the left-hand side of that chart is a scale. The numbers on it were determined by the data on which the projection was based. Keep in mind that the unemployment rate in November 2008 was 6.7% and that private forecasters were at the time seeing peak rates in 2009 of from 8% to 8.25%. The CEA projection shows unemployment peaking at about 8% with a stimulus bill, and more than a year further out at about 9.2% without a stimulus bill. NEITHER OF THOSE NUMBERS IS A FREAKING PREDICTION OR PROMISE OF ANYTHING AT ALL AND NO ONE EVER SAID THAT THEY WERE!!! They are simply the numbers that resolve at the end of a series of equations based on the data available at the time. If you were to run that very same projection today, the shapes of the two curves would be almost identical, but with the stimulus, unemployment might be shown to peak at 11.0% and without at perhaps 12.2%. Those numbers wouldn't be a prediction or a promise of anything either.
Now, do you think you have that particular toxic asset moved off your balance sheet, or do you still need another bailout???
Here ya go..Biden admits that "EVERYONE guessed wrong" so that lets them off the hook for the out of whack unemployment estimations. I mean..it was "everyone" so how was the WH to know better ?
Your job is to graph out unemployment on a chart for the next two years.
You don't have a working crystal ball, so you use the CBO's numbers.
Or the OMB's numbers.
Or a combination of specialist's predictions.
Nobody was right.
The free market lost more jobs than anyone expected.
But that does not change the number of jobs created directly by the stimulus, so I wonder why people on this forum keep trying to use it as an argument against the stimulus.
