You are correct for a minute I was thinking it passed last year, however it still has the support of the majority of Vermont residents. Also for it to get the 2/3 of the votes needed to pass an override is pretty impressive.

And I don't believe that the people should be able to vote away rights from disfavored groups.

Time will solve this problem. There's no doubt about it in my mind.

What right? They're seeking a privilege, that has never existed for this country's entire history.

I disagree. The government is OF the people and BY the people

A vote like this is the very essence of a democratic republic.

Nope, doesn't have the support of the majority of VT'ers. It passed by one vote in the legislature. There was a fair amount of "donations" being given to politicians to get them to side with it. Hardly impressive. This legislature also overrode a budget veto and as a consequence our budget is getting in worse shape. They wasted much time on this and ignored the economic and financial collapse. That will not be forgotten the next election for some of these clowns in the legislature.

That's such an old, tired semantical argument. You know what I mean. Okay, here, just for you:

I don't believe that the people should be able to vote away privileges from disfavored groups.

Do you think we should abolish the judicial branch of government? If you think the people should be able to decide everything, then there's no need for a court system, really.

You must also believe that the states should have been able to continue to ban interracial marriage, and that the states that were against it should have been able to pass bans on it, even after it was legal.

The polls show it has the majority of the support. As far as passing by one vote in the Legislature, the OVERRIDE passed by one vote, which means it had the support of 2/3 of the Legislature

Should they be able to vote new ones to people? The homosexual groups supported having a vote in CA until it turned against them.

Polls also show otherwise...

Several of those who voted for it only did so after getting certain donations...they really only revealed themselves to be scum available to the highest bidding special interest group.
