Why don't you look up all of hussein obama's "associations" which are nothing more than criminals, marxists, socialists, racists and bigots with a few mad nutjob scientist and eugenisists thrown in. You will also find hussein obama and many of the people he has placed in his administration admire mass murdering dictators. Next print up the information and tell your mother that if she has any interest in what you think she will read them. Then ask her how she can support that. Finally ask her jsut how is Bush responsible for the TRILLIONS of dollars hussein obama is borrowing. You may also remind her that Bush is not in office when these TRILLIONS were spent and wasted.

Give her time. He has 3 more years for her to personally feel the impact.

Instead of arguing with her on a national level, make the case on a personal level. Ask her if she was $10,000 in debt does she think it would be a good idea for her to go on a spending spree. Then why does she think it makes sense for the government to do that?

Show her the debt clock. Ask her if there are enough rich people in the US to tax to pay off the debt with their taxes alone. Then ask her why she wants to punish you and saddle you with that debt and why she doesn't want you to have the kind of life, she enjoyed because somebody is going to have to pay for it. (It would be okay to cry here to make your point. )

Ask her if businesses (name a specific few where she shops or does business) or farmers have to pay more for energy use under cap and trade, does she think those businesses and food producers will charge more for food and products at the stores to get that additional money to pay for their higher costs? (Right now that argument is being framed to the public about what they might only have to pay directly for energy, not pass along costs.) If they don't charge more, ask her if she thinks they will have to let some employees go. Then ask her where she thinks the money comes from to pay for a lot of unemployment checks.

Ask her to name the jobs created by the stimulus bill. Then ask her if she knows anyone out of work and if they have the skills to build/repair bridges or pave roads.

Ask her if she knows the difference between benefits and treatment? Ask her, which one does the President say he won't cut for seniors? If she's an independent woman, ask her to tell you what she thinks her life would be like if she needed to have a knee or hip replaced but couldn't have it, she'd just get a pain pill to deal with the pain, or would have to wait a long time for the surgery. Ask her if she thinks you would be able to be at her beck and call if she couldn't be active and do things for herself? Ask her, if the costs for government run healthcare rise as years go by, does she think the solution to pay for it will be to 1) ration/deny her medical treatment to save money or 2) to raise her taxes?

Ask her, if she was a doctor and was paid less money for treating certain kinds of patients, would she take on more of those patients if she didn't have to? Then ask her what she thinks will happen if doctors are reimbursed less for Medicare patients.

Ask her to tell you how she thinks the national healthcare database, passed in the Stimulus bill, will be used.

Ask her what temperature she likes to keep her home in summer or winter and when she likes to turn on the washing machine/dishwasher. Then ask her how she would feel if the government told her, they were going to control her thermostat so that her home was 5 degrees colder or warmer. Ask if she knows what peak and non-peak hours are for energy use. Presuming she's usually asleep then, ask her how she feels about having the government mandate her dishwasher/washing machine run at 2:00A, for example.

Ask her, if a large burden of healthcare reform costs are placed on (name the state where she lives) what does she think (name the state where she lives) will do to get the money they'll need to pay for it?

See, the problem with politicians who oppose Obama programs is they seem to be unable or unwilling to articulate the personal impact to people. They talk in numbers and about lofty reasons why the proposed programs are wrongheaded so whoosh, it goes right over people's heads. The key is to personalize the impact to individuals like your mother, not talk about it in terms of the country.

As far as the economy goes, Bush may be guilty of being a do nothing, but it was the Democrats that brought us here and resisted reform along the way (see S.190).

I always knew that the way to handle a problem was to throw money at it, especially if it was not mine. The government having China as our bank has just doomed us. I think it will get to a point where they will have to begin collecting the payments and then of course we will have no money to pay so what will they take as payment. Our freedoms (what little we have left will be next).

China will accept our freedoms as payment? How would that work? How much can I get for my girlfriend's freedom of speech? I mean, I'll make it so she doesn't say a word. Heck, I'll pay the Chinese if I can do that.

bush only about doubled the national debt....... You do that by taking a massive amount of resources away from the productive (private) sector... and that doesn't happen by not doing anything.

Rinotrons? Using words like this, do you expect people to respect your "different (correct) view points?"

She's also correct that Bush mapped out the first bailout/stimulus that went to the banks and without a single string attached for paying it back. Big deal that you say "obama ok' ed it." He wasn't president then and it was just a formality that Bush showed it to him. Bush's decision to do it was not influenced by Obama. Since then, Obama has had a whole department of economists at the Brookings Institute working on the problem and they believe their recommendations is the correct course. Time will tell.

Bush ruled by decree?
