The problems with our government were not created overnight, they were created over decades of neglect and abuse of power. When you have such a long history of problems, it is IMPOSSIBLE to fix every single one overnight.
Think of it like this: If you don't go to the dentist, don't brush your teeth, don't floss and eat a lot of sugary foods over the course of several years, your teeth will likely be rotting out of your jaws, you'll have gum disease and probably some infections. Now, you could have spent $50 a year for simple cleaning visits, a toothbrush/toothpaste, etc., but instead you're now facing $5000 or more of reconstructive surgery, dental implants or dentures. It will take several visits and you won't instantly (or possibly ever) have that same pearly white smile you did before you stopped maintaining your oral hygiene.
