There is a church close to Pensacola with a sign up saying "Santa isn't coming, Jesus is".

Its Pentacostal. They are defending it by saying that Christmas is about Christ, not Santa Clause. Come on though, little kids read that sign, one woman said her daughter broke down crying when she read it. Her daughter said, "But the church doesn't lie mommy, Santa isn't coming".

What a stupid, heartless, religious thing to do.

I'm waiting for this to hit national. My local news is reporting it.

It's organized religion; it is by definition stupid and heartless.
Just look at the actions taken by organized religion.

Stupid people who let their kids believe in santa. Why don't they teach their kids to dance theirselves into a trance with rattlesnakes in their hands, babble incoherently and then go into conniption fits on the floor like normal people.

It was up to the mother to explain to her daughter, the meaning of the message, instead of causing an emotional eruption. Ignorance accelerated the problem she was having, relating it to her child. She too, thought it was all about Santa Clause.

It is like the 1st amendment, only applies to the select few.

Gee, does the church like it when facts get in their way.
Like the fact that they don't have any proof of a god thing, so, like Santa Claus, it doesn't exist.
No, they get angry and pout.

I'm not saying they don't have a right to put up whatever sign they want.

I can put a sign in my front yard saying "I hate Jews, and Hitler was God" and no one can do anything about it.

The question is, should I do that?

The mother didn't see the sign, she was focused on driving BTW. The daughter read it, and started crying her little eyes out. The mother did try and explain it to her daughter, but the church still caused a little girl to cry, for no good reason.

If they had said something like, "Remember Christ is the real reason for Christmas." or "There would be no CHRISTmas without Christ", would that not have been acceptable, and gotten the same point across?

actualy Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. it was stolen by big business and bought up by the lemmings hook line and sinker. go start your own shopping for chinese junk holiday and leave Christians out of it. better yet try to steal a Muslim holiday and see how far you get.

Actually Christians stole it from the Pagans. Careful, or they will turn you into a newt.

I think that's pretty low. The message could have been conveyed without ruining Santa for these kids!
