...there are fully 383,000 federal workers earning six-figure salaries and 22,000 earning salaries of over $170,000.
...
There may be 7.3 million Americans out of a job in this economy, but it’s happy days for federal employees. The number of civil servants making $100,000 or more has jumped over 46 percent since the start of the recession.
...in the Transportation Department, where the number of employees earning salaries of over $170,000 jumped from one to a whopping 1,690 in just a year and a half.
...
Across the board, the salary bonanza has pushed the average federal worker's pay to $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector.
Forget this running-my-own-business bull - I'm gettin' me a government job!
Not only will you get better pay. Like the Soviet Union, you'll get great side benefits. Friends and family of federal employees can network and perhaps get high paying government jobs as well, perhaps also getting a pass on some illegal activities as well?

Another thread on this? Rather than whining about it, yes, please apply for a government job.

I'm not familiar with the "great side benefits" of the Soviet Union. Could you explain and/or provide a link or two? Thanks.

You may be confusing rank-and-file federal employees with the elected clowns the people of this country keep sending to Washington.

No ... Although I've left my government job, I am also exempt from SS taxes in my present position so I'm lacking SS credits to collect. My SS statements has not changed since 2001.
