Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) has called upon 0bama to veto the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that Congress just passed. The bill has over 5,000 earmarks, and in January 0bama declared he will "ban all earmarks".

Quote:
“I would hope the president would veto this bill,” Bayh said. “It’s bad for our country’s finances. It’s bad for our children because we are going deeper into debt to China. It sets a terrible example by showing that politicians are totally out of touch with the sacrifices middle class Americans are making.”

What is your take on this? I do not know Bayh well enough to decide whether this is just his attempt at trying to hold on to his senate seat.

I think it is alittle of both.

First Obama promised to ban ALL earmarks. Lets see what happens!

Second, Bayh knows the dems are going to far with the out of control spending and knows the majority of the people are conservative minded and want it stopped.

If you have notice many dems are now coming out against the crazy spending and against Obama on many issues because they know they are wrong.

As I said months ago, you will see many more dems vote against their party and against Obama on many key issues.

The other scam bill Cap and Tax will about do the party in.

That may be true, which is why I did not jump all over Bayh, and gave him a break. The article says that Bayh was one of only three Democrats who voted against the bill.

0bama signed the last omnibus bill which had thousands of earmarks; his lame excuse at the time was it was Bush's bill, and he just had to sign it, earmarks and all.

If Obama signs his name to it, it is HIS BILL, he owns it.

And it will prove once again that his word means squat.

When he said in his sternest "Let me be clear" tone, that he would "ban all earmarks" ,it did not sound any different then when he says a lot of things. 0bama could read the phone book off the teleprompter and sound just as concerned and serious as if he were making a speech about committing soldiers to the war, before West Point cadets.

I do not expect 0bama to refuse to sign this bill, or put up a mush of a fuss about earmarks. remember, he bragged that the stimulus bill had zero earmarks in it.
