For those of you on this thread who never got a spanking in your life, you have NO valid opinion on the subject. Dr. Phil and a few studies are your "opinion," which is laughable proof at best.

The same could be said about those who were spanked. They have no idea how they would have turned out if they hadn't been spanked.
If a guy is unwilling to consider dissenting opinions, he's as closed-minded as the people he's criticizing.

That was my first "spanking" and I never forgot it.

It takes a little more effort to learn how to discipline without spanking IMO. I believe in appealing to the child's intellect.
Far too often spanking is done in anger. Lord knows I've been tempted.
The advantage to not spanking is that discipline and consequences are more likely to relate to the act. In other words... Punishment fits the crime...
Spanking relates only to physical violence. That is the gaping hole in the argument for physical punishment.
Yeah that. There is also too much conflicting information with regards to spanking. One week it shows that kids who are spanked will have lower IQ's when measured at age 10, the next week it says spanked kids are happier in the long run.

I'll have to remember that the next time you post in any topic where you have no experience...
