keep beleiving whatever it is you want to believe...
actually fox's title is based on the truth

look at the article from the daily news

"""The feds are being urged to go further and grant Haitians in the U.S. special status to stay here until conditions improve""""

""""Hong said awarding special status, allowing undocumented immigrants to work, would be a form of aid because they would send money to their families in Haiti.""""

S"""en. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) sent a letter to Obama urging him to give Haitians temporary protected status. "Now is certainly not the time to deport Haitians into an overly burdened country," she wrote.""""

facts are it would be an amnesty...temporary amnesty, but still an amnesty

you can spin all you want, the facts are right there

go to the OP's link...."""http://www.thefoxnation.com/haiti-earthquake/2010/01/14/obama-moves-grant-amnesty-haitian-illegal-aliens """

then actually click the inside link...it takes you to here Obama halts deportations of undocumented Haitian immigrants, urged to grant 'protected status'

more fox bashing from the far left
The NY Sun article headline says "Obama Halts Deportations..."

Fox News headline says "Obama Moves to Grant Amnesty..."

If you can't see that Fox News is a lying, scumbag organization, then the fault is yours.

there is no lie there! Read a dictionary for once.

Definitions of Amnesty on the Web:
  • a period during which offenders are exempt from punishment
  • pardon: a warrant granting release from punishment for an offense
  • grant a pardon to (a group of people)
  • the formal act of liberating someone

first off, its the New York Daily News...not the sun

second the daily news even ARTICLE (not the headine,,,I know the left only understands headlines) states its nore thean 'halting deportations"

from the DAILY NEWS article

"""The feds are being urged to go further and grant Haitians in the U.S. special status to stay here until conditions improve""""

""""Hong said awarding special status, allowing undocumented immigrants to work, would be a form of aid because they would send money to their families in Haiti.""""

amnesty [ˈæmnɪstɪ]
n pl -ties
a period during which a law is suspended to allow offenders to admit their crime without fear of prosecution

so ends the lesson

I'm not saying that headline writing as shown by the OP is not pure sleaze. I'm saying that "some people" should read the whole story, and it isn't the fault of the news source if they don't.

so now this is a semantics argument?

that's great you looked up the dictionary definition. But we all know that in the context of illegal immigration, the word "Amnesty" is used to express a PERMANENT status.

Just because you personally think of something a certain way does not make it that way. That word is used for all sorts of things, not just immigration. The definition is the definition, it is not semantics. Use your liberal education that you guys tout so much. Or lack thereof....

Ok, I am done with all of the Media Matters BS

Read real news people. I don't care if its MSNBC or CNN or BBC or PBS.

All of your addictions to Media Matters, HuffPo, and Daily KOS shows how starving for partisan material you are.

LOL.

The ability to speak and understand the English language is now "semantics".

You can't make this stuff up.
