I personally don't believe that if someone is against legalizing drugs, they are pro gang but I do believe that making them legal(which I am in favor of) would eliminate alot of need for dealers and would be the real economic stimulus that this country desperately needs.Get a company like Philip morris to do the production in the factory, hire tons of field workers, and then tax the hell out of it. I'm specifically talking about pot.Heroine,cocaine,etc...should still be illegal. Now if we did this and treated it like cigarettes or alcohol and put ages and impairment laws in effect,I think it could really help us get out of the hole.
I'm surprised Phillip Morris hasn't jumped on this already. They are supposedly bleeding money because of all the restrictions they've been given about advertising and what not. I think if the moment they show an interest in manufacturing it, it will become fully legal.

Probably not, but it is a great source of tax revenue and that's what we need.

People are already driving under the influence of legal drugs and nowadays, more and more, it is being proven that teenagers get addicted to their parents' prescription drugs because they are more accessible than illegal ones.
Just FYI I don't smoke marijuana but I have informed myself about it and the differences between pot and other drugs. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to decriminalize something that is proven to be less harmful than most legal drugs and take away the power it gives to drug cartels and gangs.
While I am not opposed to legalization, Your statement is ridiculous.
If the drug trade dries up do you think the gangs are going to just disband & all the members will go find 9 to 5 jobs? "Yo Homey - you want fries with that?"
If they can't make money selling dope they'll resort to prostitution, gambling, extortion or robbery. They're not going to join the chior.....
Of course legalization would put most drug dealers out of business, I've been saying that for 20 friggin' years. Unfortunately, those who fight to keep the status quo on current drug laws are rarely open to logic or reason.
After prohibition, people didn't start invading peoples homes in droves when it was repealled.
that was at best a loss of $15,000 in whiskey, but we're talking Millions in cocaine, weed and other drugs. I don't think that them getting shutdown completely will have a positive affect at all. their claws and influence in America is too deep now.
Legalization of pot was brought up last night on a talk show in Akron, OH. The caller mentioned the fact that California is looking to completely legalize it for recreational use. The host seemed to think that if CA does it, OH would as well (not to sure about that considering it took forever to get casinos to pass here). They talked about the fact that marijuana is THE BIGGEST CASH CROP IN THE US! Yes even bigger than corn, even bigger than soybean! POT! Hello calling US Government? Where the hell are you on this one??? You like to tax the s*** out of everything else!!! Don't you think legalizing it would be another huge source of tax revenue???!!! Geez! Why do we do everything so half-a** in this country?
