I assume you mean "stop responding outwardly." I don't think the average citizen wants our government to outright dismiss OBL tapes. He is known to use signals in his messages. To "stop responding" behind the scenes would be at our own peril.

Yes, I mean publicly. They should do what they need to behind the scenes. I just feel it serves no purpose to reply in public.

No, he is just following the Bush doctrine, which says catching OBL is not important. Personally I think the GOP is hiding him at Becks house and when he and his girlfriend Pay Me MO Palin run for office they can trot him out and say they captured him, yeah that sounds just about right.
