HONOLULU -- The Republican Party's flirtation this week with a proposal to punish GOP candidates who do not commit to a list of conservative principles was about more than just purity. It was about winning over angry activists.

The dispute was the latest example of the party's uncomfortable relationship with a growing band of disaffected conservatives who make up the independent grass-roots Tea Party movement.

If those people are so fiscally conservative, why did they go to Hawaii during the high season? Hypocrites, through and through. They should've gone to one of their great white promised land enclaves in the midwest or deep south.

IIRC, their new messiah, Palin, will speak, but she says she'll donate her fee to charity. Hah! Promises Promises

Purity tests are childish and odious. The GOP is behaving like kids who won't let you in their club unless you wear the right clothes, in this case a white sheet and a pointy white hat; the preferred uniform of low IQ racist dunces.

Scott Brown would have flunked the Republican purity test. I think it's dead.

Scott Brown is a RINO. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up switching parties...

Some conservative RNC members considered an ideological test of candidates the right vehicle. They believed the party could attract Tea Party activists through a declaration of purity. But many members believed that the GOP would risk more by closing its tent to more moderate voices.
In a quest for an identity, they will court both sides, then the middle. Stop courting me!!! Take a flea bath, clean your act up, get back to the table or get OUT of the conservative chair!
