I don't think it's about personal freedom or self-entitlement issues. I think it's all about ignorance, racism, and misplaced pride.
There are so many kids in the south and Appalachia with teeth rotted by drinking Mountain Dew that it was a scandal noted in the press. There is nothing quite like kids crying with toothaches that spells personal freedom.
It's not about socialism or communism, those are simply the new N words being used by vicious politicians and vested interests to poison the well for our new president and maintain their fat profits under the status quo.
It's about the quality of life for all Americans and providing basic dignity for one and all, not just those who can afford it or those will generous employers.
With most of the racists being in the Democrat Party, I miss how you can support this claim that poor Conservatives are racist and vote against their own good.
Has the thought ever occurred that perhaps they don't want to exchange their freedoms for charity?
How about the lack of proof that any of these programs proposed would directly benefit them?

One is republican under one of two circumstances - stupid or just plain selfish/greedy (with a touch of stupid). This isn't to say one can't be stupid and selfish at the same time, but the stupid for some reason view themselves as a member or potential member of the 1% club (those who benefit from republican tactics) when they will never be. The selfish/greedy are the 1% or very well off (who don't realize they are not in the 1%).
You feel half of America is stupid or greedy based on no other person of note than one 74 year old man?

Very light reading with its main highlight being voter psychology.
It does not prove racism, stupidity of a party, nor does it prove that the legislation people are fighting against may not be effective.
It isn't supportive data to allow for this broad sweeping personal attack that is occurring here in this thread.

I don't believe they don't vote for policies that would benefit them.
I believe most people vote for what they do believe in or think they believe in.
It's condescending to take the position as the know all of what others feel.
Not everyone believes big government is healthy and many, like me, know their history and studied philosophy relative to social theory and human nature.
Views are complex and I believe they should remain that way to maintain our Country's variety and quality of ideas and innovation.
