Could the anti-Christian movement have something to do with the lack of tools to transition well for new students transfering in from Christian schools to the public school system?
It appears that the public school system doesn't do a great deal to help the children from private or Christian schools transition well into it's system. While it may not be an outright lack of accomodation, it seems that they do very little for the children who need an extra dose of encouragement and support.
The system shouldn't give them "special attention", however, aren't our tax dollars covering the same system that does it's best to accomodate children from all walks of life and every race? These children do feel isolated often times, and it would benefit them tremendously if there were more of an interest on the school level to help them more quickly adjust.
But what types of services are you proposing? I would venture to say that private schools are less accommodating than public schools since public schools HAVE to provide "services" (ie., counseling, speech therapy, OT).
First, there is no "anti christian movement". There are christians and non christians and OTHER. Always has been, always will be.
Second, there really is nothing to be done to help someone who has been in a sheltered environment get used to an open one except for experience. That would be something that the parents would be responsibile for since they are the ones pulling the strings, so to speak, on what their child is exposed to at any given point. I can't think of any tools to help that sort of thing.
I went from a private Christian high school to a public one for my senior year only, but I did not lead a sheltered life otherwise so there was no problem.
I've known lots of students who have moved between private and public schools and homeschooling who've had no problems.
