No surprise there..........

The NAACP is out with its annual report card, and Republicans have been awarded Fs virtually across the board, thanks to their position on a variety of civil rights issues, most notably their killing of the D.C. voting rights bill.

Some quick-take bullet points:
• All Senate Republicans got an F but two (Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, Maine -- they got Cs).
• All Senate Democrats and Independents got As, Bs or Incompletes.
• Senator Arlen Specter (R-to-D-Pa.) got a B.
• All House Republicans got an F except six — five of whom got Ds; one got a C: Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida.
• House Republicans scored the lowest of any subgroup.
• All But 23 House Democrats got As, Bs or Incompletes.
.• All representatives who scored 100 percent were Democrats.
• Among Congressional Black Caucus members, all but two got As. Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.), who is moderating his stances in prep for a gubernatorial run, got a B.

I don't believe that speaks well of either party, it shows too much of a lockstep mentality and not enough independent thought on both sides the aisle.

Or maybe it just speaks poorly of the NAACP.

Really, does anyone care about some partisan grade assigned by an organization that has long outlived it's usefulness?

So the racist NAACP hates the mostly white GOP. What else is new under the Sun?

Not when the Republicans are doing things like passing the Patriot act, promoting torture of military detainees and the continuous assault on abortion and gay rights. Recently the GOP attempted to pass a resolution stating that any candidate would have to be lock step with them in 80% of their views (which including things like abortion and gay marriage) before they would offer support.

I'm never one to defend the NAACP but these grades are accurate and the GOP completely deserves them.

Of course, you mention nothing that has to do with the advancement of colored people. Those things you mention are not civil rights (except gay rights).

The truth is that the stereotype (false stereotype) of the South being completely racist and the South voting red is what is behind this. The NAACP is falling into the "divide the people" mentality

thank you; my thoughts exactly, what would we expect from one of the most liberal groups in the country? If they had come out with different results I would have thought they were smoking something other than tobacco..

Because, obviously, not all civil rights have to due with race and colored people.

I don't know what definition you apply to civil rights, but you should certainly fix it.

Abortion - I'd say that's a civil rights issue, although it would admittedly fall into somewhat of a gray area.

Patriot Act - Violation of civil rights there. No friggin debate about that one.

Torture - Again, definitely a civil rights issue.

The part in bold is no stereotype. It's a fact.
