Does this concern any of you or does it not come as a surprise?

Have you bothered to read the financial statements for the program?

Depending on how you look at it... the program is belly up come next fiscal year.

I doubt that the Democrats alone caused that to happen.

It's called the greedy Baby Boomer mentality.

Let them choke on their own greed. Revel in the fact that the economy is going south and they will not get off scott free. That they will have to work and barely retire. After all... they created Social Security for their benefit and now they are spending all they got to keep it. Gotta love the irony.

Peace!

It was only a matter of time.. Democrats should be applauded for looking at the account and the public should realise that the plan is/was a failure. Anyone who lives off such welfare is a failure themself, and yes, that includes LOTS of americans..

Oh and btw... just in case you'd criticise me

I'll gladly let them keep all the SS that they stole from me as a contribution and testament to their lack of discipline. I'd rather make a statute to their failed selfishness than let this one off lightly!!

It's so great. They expected revenue from younger workers yet they thieved the whole economy. Jacked up real estate and college tuition to nose bleed heights. Ran medical costs to the roof.

And then they expect people to work for nothing and pay taxes to boot. SS is an anchor around the neck of workers. Same as all that I mentioned above. And all that was caused by the Boomers who expect to retire early in the sunshine.

I love the smell of defeat. Boomers now have to anty up just like the rest of us. Fair is fair.

Welfare is the only game in town for some folks.

Leftist like it for the poor folk.

Rightists like it for their corporations.

Taxes ain't even the issue. It's lack of discipline and popularist voting.

Give me give me give me.... they sound like babies wanting a ninny.

GO GET A JOB AND WORK FOR FREE IF NEED BE. GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUMM.

Thanks for your assessment.
So you'll be refusing your checks when they come or will you swallow your pride, admit you're a failure and cash them?
Keep in mind, people my age (collecting) have been predicting there would be none for us since I was young so don't take it as fact that you won't ever get any.

I dont pay into it, nor will I be receiving it.. no checks coming my way... dont assume we are all in the same situation as needing welfare when we grow up to survive... Many save so we can indeed retire...

This is totally ironic considering how often we hear Republicans tell us that Social Security doesnt really exist.

Doesn't working for free defeat the purpose of a job?

"Concern" me? I am concerned that it did not happen 25 years ago.

Let's face it. Medicare and Social Security will have to be deramatically cut or eliminated to avoid insolvency. It is a certainty that we must face at some time and we might as well start now. I would rather have roads, education, fireman and police than medicare or social security. Medicare could probably remain in a very scaled down fashion, but the feds have no buisness being in the retirement industry. The reason that 65 was chosen as the Social Security benefits age is that the life expectancy was below 65 then. The government should not and cannot provide for the daily expenses of the entire population. Attemtps to continue to do so will insure insolvency.

Despite the article, do you really think that Obama the great spender would ever cut a single program? Of course not! It will take a real conservative to make the hard decision we need to implement. Let the libs determine what they are good at- the color of the curtains in the White House.
