Government - of, by, and for the people. We are it and it is us. I like to tease politicians as much as anyone else, but they are us. They decide what gets made into a National Park or Monument, they do things like decide to build the interstate highway system, bridges, libraries, Universities, etc.. How this country looks to an outsider has as much to do with Joe and Jane American as it does with our government.

I'm sensing that with certain people, which party holds the office of POTUS means everything. Since Obama got elected, now suddenly there's all this noise coming from the right about how government sucks and we need to curb spending. Where were they for the previous 8 years? Where were they when Reagan raised taxes on gas and other things and ran up the biggest deficit to date in the middle of a recession? But he's their Saint now. LOL.

It's so transparent.

Continued privatization of vital industries is on the move.

NASA, DARPA have done a lot for us in advancing technology.

If the private sector wants to get in on the action fine, but they should not cut into NASA's funds in any way.

This is from the guys that brought us wireless tech and our beloved Internet.

So guess what nay sayers, the government and its most socialistic manifestation, the military CAN GET THINGS RIGHT.

Barry give the Pentagon the biggest bailout in history.

You guys feeling a tingle?

So, at almost $5 a gallon for jet fuel?

You do realize, jet fuel takes less refining than gasoline.
It is basically high grade diesel.

Omigod this is so Star Trekian frackin' cool.

"By 2025, we expect new spacecraft designed for long journeys to allow us to begin the first-ever crewed missions beyond the moon into deep space," he said. "We'll start by sending astronauts to an asteroid for the first time in history.

That would demand new propulsion and life-support technology. The space agency may need to develop special living quarters, radiation shields or other new technology to allow astronauts to live in deep space so long, said NASA chief technology officer Bobby Braun.

On the day the president announced the goal, a NASA task force of scientists, engineers and ex-astronauts was meeting in Boston to work on a plan to protect Earth from a cataclysmic collision with an asteroid or a comet."

Galatica here we come.

Great to have a President that wants us to go where no man has gone before.

Wait until they find an endangered worm or something in those ponds. That'll be fun.

We've discovered energy reserves everywhere. Whether they'll let them move forward with something, that's another story.

Hopeful, but realistic.
Toss a few Delta Smelt in the pond and the EPA will close it all down to save the endangered minnow.

How long would it take to make enough jet fuel to fly a fully loaded 747, and then multiply it by a few hundred and tell me if they can keep up with the demand. Besides, what about man-made global warming?

You can put out your cigarette in jet fuel, its flashpoint is so high.

I knew it. You see no difference between $3 and $5. You would rather have discount fuel at the expense of the military personnel.

Lets see what fruits this tech will bear.

"Over the last ten years, some USD 50 billion of government funding has been invested into nanotechnologies, and this investment is now starting to bear fruit with a steady stream of commercially viable nanotechnologies that impact on human health, the environment and technology.

Gold-based catalysts are now being developed that can effectively prevent the release of highly toxic forms of mercury into the atmosphere, the reduction of chemicals from green feedstock, and also for water purification and contaminant detection. In addition, gold is being used in meeting the challenge of constructing cost effective and efficient fuel cells, a key 'clean-energy' technology of the future."
