Federal employees should be part of social security just like the rest of us lowly working stiffs.

Totally eliminate the internal revenue service opting for a national sales tax. Imagine the money saved by individuals and companies not being forced to spent BILLIONS to tax preparers. Also think of the environment saving all those trees used to make paper.

I am writing my congressman because government has gotten totally out of control.

Eliminate the homeland security department.

Government continues to grow under this administration. Obama chastises private companies for excessive pay and benefits but thinks nothing of the excessive pay and benefits government employees receive. Perhaps he considers them to be elite.

Ok so you eliminate Homeland. Great idea. Now bombs get into our airports unabated, and illegals overrun our borders. Once again, check that space underneath your toupee, a brain should normally be there.

It's more than that.

In 2009 Federal employees received a pay raise of 3.9%. Us lowly surfs didn't get a raise so what makes federal employees so very special?

Last year I paid $14,000 in federal income tax. With 2 million federal employees each one received nearly 3/4 of one cent from me.

If Napolitano is in charge of Homeland Security that is equivalent to no Homeland Security. She is lost and not qualified for that job. Get rid of her, promote someone from the ranks for less money and really begin to protect our Homeland.

Then tell me where they are. In other words-PROVE IT. Maybe in IL, I don't know. In MD, no. In VA, no. In PA, somewhat, although the pensions have changed.

Just that you are overpaid for what you do.

What is it exactly that you do? What equivalent job in the private sector is like your job?

How much could you expect to get paid if you went into the private sector? Based of course on your education and practical experience?

How many people have been laid off at your place?

Has your department been downsized... like many companies in the private sector.

Have you and your co-workers had their pay and benefits cut like in the private sector? If not, why not!

Ohio and Cleveland has 15%+ unemployment!
How much has the government sector cut back? Or are you just feeling our pain?
My department has felt some of the budget crunch! They take twice as long to hire more clerks now, that doubles up our workload, and when they finally do hire more clerks, they hire "students" or temps, who are only there for a year and receive no benefits or points towards retirement.

The cost of my health care has went up 5% and then 9% in back to back years. Some healthcare plans went up 30% or more. The government lets us choose if we even want a plan, then what plan we have to PAY INTO. Nothing "totally free" as some of you people claim.

I checked the salary.com estimator for what I do, I would be in the 90th percentile in the private sector, so maybe I am overpaid by 1.50 an hour or so, but I also have a bachelors degree and if you take that into account, I am right around 65th percentile.

How is 6, 54.55% of 12? That's what the poll says

Now 7 is 53.85% 0f 14 .....and they are complaining about government inefficiency

I just love it when government employees insult taxpayers. I love it when they remind me what an idiot I am and how I couldn't survive without them.

Kind of like the FTC employees who spent more of their time surfing porn sites on government computers than watching the likes of Bernie Madoff and his ilk as they came near to destroying the country.

No, why not instead have the immigration and naturalization department DO THEIR JOB which they didn't do which allowed 9/11 to happen?

Instead they get a pass and yet another federal boondoggle is born.

You know how disgusting it is to have to watch one of these highly trained TSA employees make an 84 year old grandmother from Wisconsin with blond hair and blue eyes take her shoes off? I don't fly commercially anymore because of this garbage.

You work for the beast, you work for the institution that would take all our freedoms and the only way we can control the growth of the monster is to cut its money off.
