"Some New York City chefs and restaurant owners are taking aim at a bill introduced in the New York Legislature that, if passed, would ban the use of salt in restaurant cooking...many chefs and restaurant owners said they are tired of politicians dictating what they can serve and what people can eat. They have opposed the city's anti-sodium and anti-transfat campaigns."

Chefs Call Proposed New York Salt Ban 'Absurd' (http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/news/local_news/new_york_state/chefs-call-proposed-new-york-salt-ban-absurd-20100310-akd - broken link)

Jerky libs. The way I see it, if the liberal government control freaks keep this stuff up, pretty soon, the corner drug dealer will switch from selling illegal drugs to illegal food and soft drinks.

Bloomberg isn't a "lib". He was actually once a member of the GOP now he's an independent. He's an arrogant former businessman who believes in high taxation and low spending who views government likes it's a business corporation. He's likely doing this because he knows he can get a lot of money off of it. His high taxation policy but little to no public reinvestment doesn't really fall under either political platform but by no means is he a liberal.

I don't mind the anti-transfat thing, but stay away from my salt! (but don't tell my doctor!)

In the past I'd say this type of bill didn't have a chance of passing and was a waste of taxpayer paid for time......nowadays? Not so confident.
I have been wondering why we never hear of "Uncle Sam" anymore. Is there any plan to come up with a visual for Mommy or Daddy Gov?

This is not sponsored by bloomberg. It is sponsored by a liberal Democrat from Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Dem Felix Ortiz wants to ban use of salt in New York restaurants

The Nanny State at its finest!

I love all the posters who try to tell us our freedoms are not slowly being eroded.

I mean New yorkers are not going to be able to have salt flavoring in their meals anymore because Daddy Government says its bad for you.

As if we cannot make up our own minds and decide against having a dish that may have a high sodium content.

Its astonishing people let ths happen.

Bloomberg is the mayor. Whether this passes or not is his say. And his views essentially don't fall under any party. High taxation, little to no spending. It's not conservative because he taxes everything. At the same time it's not liberal because he doesn't believe in public investment. And keep in mind he's a former business bigwheel, who typically aren't liberal. And why on earth would someone switch from being a Democrat to Republican to get elected in NEW YORK CITY? He may be a succesful business person but he has no business being in politics. I seriously hate the guy.

Just what NYC needs...destroy the restaurant industry by turning all cuisine into inedible hospital food and wipe out another tax base.

We really need to send our legislators home so they can get real jobs instead of sitting around Albany trying to burnish their reputations by passing useless laws with their name appended to them.
