Costa Rica has universal health care, one of the best health systems in Latin America. As always with nationalized health care, expect red tape and long waits, but the quality of Costa Rica's health care is excellent. Private health care is also available, very affordable, and high quality. Many doctors speak English and have received training in Europe, Canada, or the U.S. There are three large, private hospitals that most expatriates use: CIMA hospital in Escazú, Clinica Biblica in San José, and Clinica Católica in San José-Guadalupe.

Statistics from the World Health Organization frequently place Costa Rica in the top country rankings in the world for long life expectancy, often even ahead of Great Britain and the United States, even though the per-capita income of Costa Ricans is about one-tenth that of the U.S. and the U.K. Arguably, one reason for this is the slower pace of living in Costa Rica. And, of course, the healthy, fresh, non-preservative-laden foods found there, and the welcoming tropical climate. Costa Rica just seems to be a healthy place to live.

Rush Limbaugh Should Maybe Read Up On Costa Rican Health Care

Per capita income in CR is closer to 1/3rd of here. When you factor out the farmers that mainly live off the land, which are extensive outside of San Jose, it would be over 1/2. The taxation in CR is also substantially lower than here. They run an efficient government, which is something else we cannot seem to do here. I would move there in a heartbeat if I could. It is paradise on earth!

The only statistic that comes to mind for me here, is that the United States has too many idiots, corporatists and crazies to ever have our systems work well for the average person.

I can say from personal experience that the health care system in Costa Rica is great! Broke my wrist once while hiking through a rain forest, therefore, visited the doctor/hospital in Costa Rica.....and it didn't cost me a penny....and great care. Good for nationalized health care! I love that Rush was too uninformed to realize what he was saying when he popped out the words Costa Rica.

I read that article and they said Rush would go there for the CHEAP care.
He can already do that now.

I plan to save up money for medical care in another country. Just looking at the difference in prices makes it worth it to travel to Mexico or Costa Rica.

So Limbaugh is willing to leave his country of birth because it might enact health care reform and go to a country that has universal health care. He must be doing heroin again.

He never said that;... the media said that. If you're going to post something about what Rush would do, perhaps you'd better have the facts. You don't. You're making stuff up.

By the way: Rush never did heroin.

Dang, I really hate liars!!!

It would be awesome if many would go to foreign countries for health care. It will reduce the wait time for those of us who choose be treated in the United States.

You are the liar, here is the clip, fast forward to 1:38, "If this passes, I'm leaving the country, I'll go to Costa Rica" Rush admits to abusing Oxycodone.

Oxycodone is an opioidanalgesic medication synthesized from opium-derived thebaine. It was developed in 1916 in Germany, as one of several new semi-synthetic opioids in an attempt to improve on the existing opiates and opioids: morphine, diacetylmorphine (heroin), and codeine.[2]
