For the most part, herpes is not a big deal, and most people don't even have outbreaks. Like most things associated with sex, I think too many Americans become semi-hysterical when they hear about herpes.
Also, keep in mind that "cold sores" are a euphemism for herpes. People get nervous when they hear about herpes, but not when they hear about cold sores. It doesn't make sense.
notice women have 2x the infection rate of men? Not because it's easier for women to catch it, but because women have sex with a small pool of men.
Huh, interesting because this is what I read...
Quote:
Douglas said the increased rate of infection in blacks is not do to increased risk behavior but likely due to biological factors that make women more susceptible as well as the higher rate of infection within black communities.
""Because herpes is so prevalent it becomes ... a really important reason to use condoms on a consistent and correct basis with all of your partners," Douglas said."
Now, that don't make no kinda sense since herpes are sores on the skin, which can be 'bout anywhere. The disease is easily spread by mere contact. Herpes attacks the nervous system, condoms prevent body fluids from exchanging thereby attacking the blood stream. Mr. Douglas is presenting a false sense of security.
Somebody should invite this goon to this forum. Fit right in with the other conspiratorial types.
"Blacks in America tend to live in urban settings, in the projects, with social welfare, they vote 90% Democrat, voting for slavery to the state. This lifestyle, secular and socialist, wrought with single mothers at 70%, is a result of Democratic mastery. Herpes is just another result if the horrific Democrat slavery system, once again, of black people in America."

Reason: Adding quote.
I think that if people are sexually active with multiple partners, they should accept that there's a good chance of contracting herpes eventually. It's a trade-off for the freedom and fun of having multiple partners.
You can't say that it's easier for someone to get something because they have a higher rate of infection.
It's due to behavior. Women have sex with men that other women desire, so IF these guys get STDs, they spread them to other women, hence why women have higher STD infections than men, because women desire men that other women desire.
