There can be no other conclusion that this man is intent on destroying our economy. Can we imagine the high paying JOBS that would be created if we tapped just of bit of our natural resources we have at hand? Isn't the goal to be independent of unfriendly foreign sources of oil? What better way to accomplish that goal than to cultivate and develop our domestic energy supply?

But no, obama wants windmills and solar, technology that HAS NOT, WILL NOT, CAN NOT meet our energy demands.

Subsidizing alternative energy fits the classic definition of insanity. Despite huge subsidies, it has proved to be neither cost-effective nor a reliable, significant contributor to our national power grid. Yet we keep subsidizing it, expecting a different result.

"Oil is an ideal transportation fuel, so it will be with us for decades," Chu conceded, even as the administration forbids us from getting more of it here, creating energy jobs, lowering energy costs and cutting our trade deficit. Instead we'll rely increasingly on foreign and often unfriendly suppliers.
Yeah, they even admit it is reliable, abundant and cheap, but we're NOT going to tap into that supply.

Insanity...or deliberate economic suicide.

This is definitely an attempt to financially destroy the United States of America.

3 year ban on drilling.

The stupidity for the sake of appeasing the AGW wackos is truly breathtaking.

We don't have enough oil to make a dent in our long-term demand for energy, and every day that we leave our own oil right where it is, it is worth more. Sort of like holding a very safe investment. Oil as an efficient source of transportation energy meanwhile peaked in the 1950's. The energy return on investment has been declining ever since. The implications are obvious. We need an alternate source of transportation energy to move to as the oil situation worsens. Not today. Not five years from today. But if we don't start for ten years, ten years from now, we'll be right where we are today. That would be a really dumb, Ronald Reagan sort of thing to do.

As for subsidies, how did the railroads unite the country and open up all those new trade and travel opportunities? Did the ingenuity of private sector free-market capitalists bring that about? No. Government subsidies did. And the electric power generation that made the west and midwest habitable places for 20th century Americans? Government subsidies. The Green Revolution? The interstate highway system? Rural mail, phone, and internet service? Well, you get the idea.

Great post. Too bad I can't rep you more.

These whacky fascists are being discovered more and more everyday, and fortunately thier time is numbered. It is truely shocking that such a crew of gangsters was able to capture the highest office in the land. Having lived in Illinois for several years, we knew what was coming. Sad to say, the rest of the nation did not.

Saggy never misses a liberal beat- peak oil. Remember that was refuted about ten years ago Saggy? I guess the liberal press does not cover the news anymore, so you probably did not get the message. I think that liberals tell these lies so often among themselves that they actually start to believe them themselves!

Here is some crazy logic, Sag. Why not explore and use all the oil we can now, to reduce our dependency from both an economic and strategic standpoint, and use 5% tax (wow, a conservative talking about a tax) mandated for alternative energy (that is mandated) infrastructure in each state? Our state leads the nation in per capita alternative energy production. Why? Because our minds have not been infected with liberalism yet and we can still think clearly. Everyone supports alternative energy, however no one (except liberals) support national suicide in an attempt to achieve that end.
